Prison Break

In the past, I have never watched a lot of TV. I recently joined Netflix and have been watching more movies and shows. I was obsessed with Grey's Anatomy but I finished it and now I am hooked onto Prison Break. It is so intense and full of action. An innocent man is framed for the homicide of the Vice President's brother and scheduled to be executed at a super-max penitentiary. It is up to his younger brother to save him with his genius scheme. The scheme is to install himself in the same prison by holding up a bank, and launch the escape plan step-by-step to break the both of them out. He thinks he can successfully do this because he has the prison's blueprints tattooed on his body as a guide. I highly recommend anybody to watch this show! It is awesome so far.

Summer Time

I am so ready for summer time. I really have had enough of all this cold weather. To start preparing my self for summer I went bathing suit shopping online today. I got a little too excited and bought three new bathing suits. The first week that is hot and clear skies  I am going to pack up that weekend and head to the beach. My parents have some really good friends who own a beach house and we are welcome to go down there anytime we want to. Another reason I am ready for summer time is because I am getting to go to New York. For Christmas my boyfriend bought us tickets to fly to NY City and stay for three days. I have never been out of the southern states, so I am beyond excited and it really can not get here soon enough.

SNOW!

I don't know about y'all but I was so glad to have the little break we had this past week. I was able to come home on Wednesday and spend some time with my family and friends. Even though it was very cold and we had a lot of snow at home I still enjoyed being off the mountain because I am sure it was much colder up there. I can not believe that we only have two more weeks left of school until we have our spring break. This year during my spring break I am going to try to work everyday so I can have spending money to go on a vacation.

Room mates

This school year I moved to a new apartment complex and have two new room mates. One of them is named Chelsea. She has been my best friend since the sixth grade so it has been really cool getting to live with her. We went to middle school, high school, and now college together. She attended App for one year and then didn't get into the nursing program so she decided to still live here in Boone and attended Caldwell Community college. She is in the nursing program there and is doing really well this semester. My other room mate was a random. Her name is Elizabeth and she goes to App. She isn't sure yet what she wants to major in but it will be something. For the most part we all really enjoy living together. We never argue with each other, I just have to pick up after them sometime which can be annoying.

SNOW!!

All day long I have not been able to stop smiling because of all the snow we have gotten. I was really worried that we wouldn't see much now this year, but this is good enough for me. One of my classes got cancelled today so I had a short day and as soon as I got home I changed clothes and went outside for about thirty minutes. I used to live in Georgia and never saw snow, that is why I love every bit of snow we get. About a hour ago my room mates and I went outside and had a huge snowball fight. We also got some pans from the kitchen and sledded down a little hill we have in our parking lot. We were almost frozen to death so we decided to call it a night. Hopefully school will be cancelled tomorrow and we can play in the snow some more.

Valentine's Day

This Valentines day was so hectic. For those of you who work in a restaurant will understand, but for those of you that don't it is the busiest day of the year. I was asked to come in at two yesterday, but my family and I wanted to get there around one so we could eat together as a family. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot at 13 Bones I knew that I wouldn't be able to eat with my family. The customers were starting to park in the grass and on the side of the highway because there was no parking left. When I walked in I came on the floor. We were on a thirty minute wait and only had five girls on the floor so they were desperate for help. We were so busy all night long and didn't go off a wait until nine and we closed at ten. This was by far the busiest Saturday night I have worked in a long time. I believe around six we were on a hour and fifteen minute wait and the people just kept pouring in. Every Valentine's Day we have the same special, which consist of two filets four sides and a dessert for forty dollars and that includes tax. It is a great deal and we sold over two hundred and fifty specials by the end of the night! I finally got to leave around eleven thirty. Whenever I got off I went to my boyfriend's house and found a huge teddy bear, balloons, two arrangements of flowers, and dinner cooked for me. Even though I had a wild day it was so worth it in the end.

Silent Dinner

Tonight was a really good night! I am in the ASL club and we had our first silent dinner of the semester. We met at Dos Amigos mexican restaurant. There was a total of eleven people that ate. Out of the eleven people we had two deaf guest and a student who has a cochlear implant. It was an amazing experience getting to silently eat dinner with them and only communicate in ASL. Sometimes when we have the dinners we don't have any deaf guest so it is very tempting to talk. The two deaf individuals had a great time and want to get involved with our club. Hopefully those of you who are in the ASL club will get to meet them. One was a lady named Laura Herman and she was an ASL teacher  for thirty years at four different universities and now she is working for the Department of Health and Human Services in Morganton. The other deaf person was a guy named Gregory. He was born and raised her in Boone. I really loved talking with them but was extremely nervous because it has been a semester without ASL and I was having to ask them to sign slow so I could keep up!

BLOGS?

So y'all this blog thing is new to me and I honestly had no clue what I was doing. I finally have it working though the way it should. Every time I had been posting a blog I was creating a whole separate blog page that's probably why you haven't been able to read anything I have posted lol. I also apologize for the url being birthday. I know it makes no sense and I don't know how to change it so it will probably stay birthday. I really enjoy doing the blogs every week though I feel like I can learn more about everyone this way. Because even though we see each other everyday, I feel like I don't know much about everyone out of school!

Sagebrush

So tonight after our NSSLHA meeting I was so excited because my roommates and I decided to go eat at Sagebrush. I was starving and had been thinking about it all day. We chose to go their because for Christmas my parents received a gift card to eat there and gave it to me to use. My roommates got there about ten minutes before me so they already were seated. I joined them and it took the server 10 minutes to come back to the table to get my drink order. I usually am pretty patient with servers because I am one, but it should not take that long to come to the table, especially because they were not busy at all. By the time she came to the table we were ready to order so she took my drink and food order. She then brought our salads out to the table and still didn't bring my drink. I was trying not to choke while eating my salad. About 10 minutes after that she brought our food out to us and I finally got my drink then. My salad was delicious but the potato soup I ordered was terrible. It wasn't even a soup it was just like mash potatoes in a bowl. I didn't complain about it because I don't like to complain, but my waitress saw I didn't eat any of it and took it off the bill for me. Lets just say I will never get the soup from there again.

13 Bones

For those of you that don't know I work at a restaurant named 13 Bones in Mount Airy, NC. I have worked there ever since they opened in 2009. This March will be six years. Six local friends came together and decided to open the place up. We have a variety of things at the restaurant. We serve salads, sandwiches, steak plates, chicken plates, seafood, and most importantly ribs. Ribs are our speciality because they fall right off the bone. We have three different flavors for the ribs. There is the original sauce which is a very thin vinegar base, Kansas city which is a thick sweet and spicy barbecue sauce, and memphis style which is a dry spicy barbecue rub. We have people from all around to come eat with us. I am not just saying this because I work there, but they do have the best ribs I have ever ate.  Besides the ribs my favorite thing to eat is a filet with a side of broccoli and a baked potato. I have to include all the yummy homemade desserts we have. We have a peanut butter cheesecake that is my favorite. It has an Oreo crust and then peanut butter feeling and chocolate over top. We also have a keylime cheesecake that has a gram cracker crust and keylime filling in center with raspberry drizzle overtop. Another dessert is the red velvet cake. It has homemade cream cheese frosting on it. The last type of dessert we have is the hershey bar cake. It is lie a brownie in a cake for that is warmed in the microwave and has ice cream served over top of it with chocolate syrup. This cake is also really good because I like chocolate and my mom makes it. If you come to the restaurant on your birthday you will get a free hershey bar cake.  The restaurant is kinda small inside. It is about the size of mellow mushroom here in Boone. The inside is rustic looking with old signs hanging on the walls. Our dress code for work is dark blue jeans and a black 13 Bones t-shirt. It is a nice place to eat at but very causal. If anybody is every around this part of NC you should stop and eat with us! I promise you won't be disappointed.
My name is Kaitlyn Costner and I am twenty years old. My birthday is April 12th! I am originally from Macon, Georgia but my family and I moved to North Carolina ten years ago because of my dad's job. He works for RJ Reynolds and bought out his previous company. I have two wonderful parents who have always been there for me and supported me. Without them I wouldn't be where I am today. I also have a younger brother who is sixteen. Even though he is my little brother he is about twice my size. He is over six foot and plays football and wrestles. I only have one pet and his name is KC. He is a miniature Dodson who is getting very old and hateful. I also have a sweet boyfriend named Taylor that I have known since middle school. I graduated in 2012 from West Stokes High school in King, Nc. After High school I attended Surry Community College in Dobson, Nc. While I was there I obtained a core transfer diploma. After Surry I transferred to Appalachian State. I have known from the very beginning that I wanted to be a speech pathologist. I got the opportunity to work with three different therapist throughout my high school career and fell in love with it. I am a waitress at a local restaurant in Mount airy and have been since they opened six years ago. The restaurant is named 13 Bones and has great food! I can't stay away from there because the workers are like my second family so I go home every other weekend still to work. Later on in my post I will share more information about all the special people in my life!
